My Vienna is a deeply personal tribute to the world-famous melodies from the birthplace of waltz and operetta. Jonas Kaufmann has always had a special rapport with Austria and Vienna. His grandmother had a fondness for the light classics and was happy to sing the evergreens of Johann Strauss, Franz Lehár and Robert Stolz – a nice contrast to his grandfather’s passion for Wagner. As a child, Jonas spent much of his free time on his grandparents’ farm in Tyrol. Austrian television was almost more familiar to him than its German counterpart. Since then he has had a deep love for Viennese songs and operetta. “The music always put me in a good mood”, he recalls. “When I had unlikeable things to do as a student, like cleaning or vacuuming, all I had to do was play Carlos Kleiber’s Fledermaus recording, and in no time at all I had a grin on my face.” Viennese songs and scenes from operettas; music by Johann Strauß, Franz Léhar, Emmerich Kálmán, Robert Stolz, Ralph Benatzky, Jaromir Weinberger, Peter Kreuder and Georg Kreisler.
LSO: Haitink conducts Mozart & Bruckner
The London Symphony Orchestra celebrates a milestone birthday of one of the greats of the conducting world, Bernard Haitink. Bernard Haitink is revered alike by the musicians of the orchestras he conducts and the music-lovers in the audience. A week after his 90th birthday, the London Symphony Orchestra – with which he has a particularly special partnership – celebrates this milestone with the conductor himself. Soloist Till Fellner – who describes Haitink as ‘a very noble man and musician’ – plays Mozart, before Haitink turns to Bruckner, a composer whose majestic symphonies have been at the centre of his career over the decades. LSO: Gardiner conducts Schumann & Mendelssohn
Sir John Eliot Gardiner leads a journey through the Romanticism of Weber, Mendelssohn and Schumann. The Overture to Weber’s grand opera Euryanthe, which has taken on a life of its own in the concert hall, is a window onto some of the most exciting moments of the whole work. Isabelle Faust and Kristian Bezuidenhout then present Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Violin and Piano, which elegantly balances a measure of Classical restraint against rich and Romantic displays of feeling. We close with Schumann’s Third Symphony. One of the composer’s most impressive, it paints a euphoric picture of the German Rhineland in broad Beethovenian style, closing with an exhilarating finale. In 2015, Howard was named the recipient of Billboard‘s Women in Music „Powerhouse“ Award. In June 2019, Brittany Howard announced a debut solo album, Jaime to be released on September 20, 2019.

Madrugada play Baloise Session
Madrugada is a Norwegian alternative rock band formed in the town of Stokmarknes in 1993. The key band members included Sivert Høyem (vocals), Robert Burås (guitar) and Frode Jacobsen (bass). After Burås‘ death on 12 July 2007, Høyem and Jacobsen decided to finish recording what was to be their final album.On 21 January 2008, the band released Madrugada and announced that they would split after one last tour. They performed their final concert on 15 November 2008. In June 2018 it was announced that Høyem, Jacobsen and Lauvland Pettersen had reformed the band for a series of shows in 2019. According to Anders Kaasen of Allmusic, the band was noted for „its bareboned blues-inspired alt-rock“ at the end of the 1990s.
