19 of the original singers on Avicii’s biggest tracks, including Aloe Blacc, Adam Lambert, Alex Ebert, Rita Ora and Joe Janiak, came together with a 30 pc band to perform a two hour headline set of his original music on December 5 at the Friends Arena in Stockholm – in front of 58.163 fans! – for the Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awareness. The Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awareness was the first time that most of Avicii’s greatest tracks have ever been performed live and also the first time that so many of the singers and collaborators whose performances and productions made his music so special, gathered together in one historic moment to perform his music. “Tim had plans for his music to be performed together with a large live band, and now we are realizing his dream and giving fans a chance to experience his music in this unique way,” says Klas Bergling, Tim’s father.

ACROSS THE STARS – Anne-Sophie Mutter plays John Williams
With ACROSS THE STARS Anne–Sophie Mutter presents some of the most outstanding works of composer and multiple Oscar Award-winner John Williams in the dream-like scenery of Munich Königsplatz. It’s the first-ever open-air concert of Mutter’s unprecedented career. Anne-Sophie Mutter and John Williams have been close friends for many years, which imbues this project with a truly special meaning: “Most of the works I perform with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Munich have been especially arranged for me – the pieces are absolutely new in this form and are performed at this concert for the very first time!” Mutter explains. The program includes pieces from Star Wars, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter, Dracula, E.T., The Witches of Eastwick, The Adventures of Tintin and Indiana Jones.
The Three Lives of Clara Schumann
Clara Schumann’s life story has become a legend. Her austere childhood, her extraordinary talent as a pianist, her early love for the composer Robert Schumann, which she imposed on her father, and the upbringing of seven children provide enough material for myths and clichés. But who really was Clara Schumann? The documentary “The Three Lives of Clara Schumann” approaches her personality from different angles – through her letters and diaries, through her compositions, and through musicians who have intensively studied her – as interpreters of her music, as seekers in her biography, as time travellers.

Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto is the composer’s only surviving work with orchestra. She herself premiered the concerto at age sixteen with Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. Although contemporaries describe the young Clara as shy and reserved, this concert is full of self-confidence, power, and romantic feelings. On the occasion of the jubilee anniversary of Clara Schumann the concerto was recorded with the ensemble that first performed the work. The Gewandhausorchester Leipzig played on her 200th birthday under the baton of Kapellmeister Andris Nelsons. The pianist Lauma Skride took over the technically demanding piano part. The festive concert evening was framed by a world premiere of French composer Betsy Jolas (*1926) and the famous Spring Symphony by Robert Schumann.
