Tancredi

With an outstanding cast and Jan Philipp Gloger’s innovative staging, Bregenzer Festspiele’s Tancredi becomes a fresh reimagining of Rossini’s opera, set in the world of organized crime and reframing the traditionally heterosexual love story as a queer romance. This bold reinterpretation is brought to life by Anna Goryachova and Mélissa Petit, whose performances capture the emotional depth and tragedy of their love. “The two women are sensational … both vocally and dramatically” (Augsburger Allgemeine). Under the baton of Yi-Chen Lin, the Wiener Symphoniker “throw themselves diligently into the opera’s multifaceted details“ (SWR). “Modern opera at its absolute finest!” (Kronenzeitung)

Don Quichotte

The “striking interpretation” (Neue Musikzeitung) of Jules Massenet’s operatic rarity Don Quichotte at Bregenz Festival, received an “unanimous jubilation for director Mariame Clément, her outfitter Julia Hansen and the entire stage team: a typical Bregenz Festival orchid flourished!“ (Neue Musikzeitung Online). But this opera is also a musical discovery, not least because of the outstanding cast: “the balsamic sound of well-being of Gábor Bretz, David Stouts mobile Sancho Panza is also wonderfully shaded (Salzburger Nachrichten) and “Anna Goryachova impresses as Dulcinée with vocal clarity and scenic presence”. (Wiener Zeitung) “The Bregenz Festival discovers a dreamlike operatic beauty full of melancholy and farewell” (Salzburger Nachrichten)

Bregenz Festival 2024: Tancredi

With an emotional opera thriller, the then 20-year-old Gioachino Rossini surpassed most of the popular Italian composers in 1813. Even though Tancredi is one of his early works, with its sweeping melodies and rushing finales it still shows Rossini’s musical creativity. Jan Philipp Gloger stages this action-packed opera about love, trust and the impossibility of finding happiness in times of crisis. Since 2010, the drama director of the Staatstheater Nürnberg also worked internationally as an opera director. Yi-Chen Lin, who guests of the Bregenzer Festspiele might remember from Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, conducts the opera. “You can hardly do opera better these days!” (Kronenzeitung)

Bregenz Festival 2019: Don Quichotte

French director Mariame Clément takes a clever and exhilarating look at modern heroism in Jules Massenet’s operatic rarity Don Quichotte: “a striking interpretation” (Neue Musikzeitung). But this opera is also a musical discovery, not least because of the outstanding cast starring Gábor Bretz as Don Quichotte, David Stout as Sancho and Anna Goryachova as Dulcinée. In the pit, Daniel Cohen leads the Wiener Symphoniker to a dynamic- differentiated performance. A musically as visually absolutely rewarding evening!

Matilde Di Shabran

“There truly is a Rossini miracle!” (Deutschlandradio). Acclaiming the mastery of tenorissimo Juan Diego Flórez and the breathtaking young soprano Olga Peretyatko in the lead roles, the press hailed the premiere of Rossini’s Matilde di Shabran at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro as the “high point of the festival” (the Berlin daily Der Tagesspiegel).
