Sir Chloe formed in 2018 at a music university in the USA, but their music doesn‘t sound like a study group. Between lo-fi, garage, rock, indie and shoegaze, the band around frontwoman and mastermind Dana Foote makes itself comfortable. Despite the raw energy and somewhat unwieldy indie aesthetic, the songs unfold great pop qualities without ever pandering.
2022 Lollapalooza Berlin: Iann Dior
Iann Dior was born Michael Ian Olmo in Puerto Rico, but grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. After a painful breakup, the young rapper began writing songs at the age of 17 to find an outlet for his pain. He posted the songs online and was a bit surprised himself at how well his early musical efforts were received. From these humble beginnings, a large fan base for his pop-infused emo-rap songs quickly grew.

Originally coming from hardcore, the four US-Americans today move somewhere between loud and dirty stoner rock and musically versatile blues rock. The band from Germantown, Maryland around singer and founding member Neil Fallon brings the mood of the endless and dusty country roads of the US state on 11 studio albums.

From the Big Apple, the city with a hole, the navel of the world – New York – come the four around singer Mina Caputo to make the speakers of every box burst with their alternative metal. Nobody can blame them for the fact that their biggest influences are bands like Metallica, Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd. Their own sound lies somewhere in between, but still – and thanks to Caputo‘s unique voice – hardly comparable.
WOA 22: Lordi
At the latest in 2006 with their victory at the Eurovision Songcontest, the five Finns around Mr. Lordi achieved worldwide fame overnight. But we don‘t want to reduce them to that, because they are much more than that: Their music reminds of traditional hard rock á la Kiss, Accept or Alice Cooper. In addition, there are electronic elements that help Lordi to their independent and distinctive sound.
WOA 22: Death Angel
Californian band Death Angel was founded in 1982 in San Francisco. With nine studio albums, the band stands with the leaders of the second wave of thrash metal movement from the 1980s along with bands such as Metallica and Megadeth.
WOA 22: Therapy?
Since 1989, Therapy? has been a staple of the UK‘s alternative rock and metal scene, with their home base in Northern Ireland. Celebrat ing their 30th anniversary in 2020, the band released a greatest hits album, and we can‘t wait to hear those hits live at W:O:A 2022.
