ECM Exploration: Anouar Brahem in Paris
Inspirational oud master Anouar Brahem is joined by three esteemed colleagues to present music from his new album, “After the Last Sky”, in this concert filmed live at the Philharmonie de Paris. Eight years after his previous project, “After the Last Sky” marks the first time that Brahem features a cello in his group music, with Anja Lechner – a cellist as well versed in classical music as in improvisation and in Brahem’s unique sound world – taking a leading role alongside pianist Django Bates and bassist Dave Holland.

Ron Carter “Foursight” Quartet special guest appearence Marcus Miller at Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival
Nobody sounds like Ron Carter. With their 12-piece lineup around the Tedeschi/Trucks couple, the Tedeschi Trucks Band has been an exceptional phenomenon in the U.S. blues and rock landscape from the very beginning, and in this country, too, their blinker-free sound is steadily finding more and more fans – so many, in fact, that they were recently even to mix up the German Top 20. With Layla Revisited another live – album of the Tedeschi Trucks Band was released in 2021. An incredible live recording of the Derek & The Dominos album Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs. Some experts even think that it would be better than the original version. About prizes and awards the band around Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks is not lacking either. Among others, there was the Grammy for the album Relevator, several Blues Music Awards (among others for their album „Made Up Mind“) and constant chart-topping positions in the Blues charts/USA.

Hip-hop is essentially a party culture that originally danced its way from city streets into the hit parades of the world. When Die Fantastischen Vier, often shortened to FANTA 4 started up at the end of the 1980s, hip-hop was regarded by many as a flash in the pan. Nowadays, rap is fifty years old and the most successful form of pop music in the world. FANTA 4 are pioneers of the German-language variant of this art of spoken, rhythmic wordplay: street-smart but also in its intellectual prime, quick-witted and rhythmically strong. The band has got 4 No. 1 albums in the GfK Top 100 Albums and a No. 1 single in the GfK Top 100 Singles. They have sold more than 4,7 million records, and their most successful album, 4 gewinnt, has sold more than 825 thousand units.
Lo & Leduc play Baloise Session
Hip Hop has now overtaken all other genres in the pop firmament. Yet this genre also has different facets. We bring acclaimed and particularly appealing wordsmiths to the BALOISE SESSION stage: superstars who rap in dialect. Lo & Leduc from Bern are purveyors of intelligent, astute and absurd texts. Their beats are wittily peppered with funk and jazz. In the 2015 Swiss Music Awards, Lo & Leduc were the performers with the most nominations (Best Group, Best Live Act and Best Talent).
