Accompanied by a luxurious team of professionals,led by renowned stage director Peter Stein and conductor Ádám Fischer, a number of international young singers were given the opportunity to introduce themselves to the public of La Scala in an extremely high level setting. The result was an instant success, not only with the audience of La Scala, which is famous for its more than critical loggionisti, but also with the television audience, where the live broadcast reached record breaking viewing rates. According to Die Presse Fischer “gets the best out of the Accademia Orchestra with delicate execution and humane phrasing” while the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung praises “the high number of promising young voices”, including the “radiantly brilliant Newcomer Fatma Said as Pamina and Yasmin Özkan as a flawlessly great Queen of the Night”.
The Giacomo Variations
‘The Giacomo Variations’ is a chamber opera play based about the late Giacomo Casanova, who, in the face of his approaching death, is still trying to find out, what he was living for, if not only to be coveted and desired by the woman he loves. Giacomo, played by John Malkovich, presents his memories and stories to impress Countess Isabella, the beautiful young sister of his host Karl Emanuel Count von Waldstein and of course has his try on the nurse, the seamstress and the kitchen maid, while he is developing his philosophical view on love, medicine, fashion, and cookery. The play by Michael Sturminger with music concept by Michael Haselböck is based on opera scenes by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Lorenzo Da Ponte.
Le Nozze di Figaro
Legendary production of Mozart’s ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ from the stunning Berlin Staatsoper. In the role of Figaro, multi-award-winning German baritone Roman Trekel. Conducted by Daniel Barenboim and staged by German director Thomas Langhoff.
Così fan tutte
Conductor René Jacobs, highly-acclaimed specialist in the music of the 18th century, conducts this production of Mozart’s ‘Così fan tutte’ from the famous Aix-en-Provence Festival performed by the Concerto Köln, which has established a solid place amongst the highest-ranking orchestras for historical performance in the world.
