The concert gives people from different cultural backgrounds the chance to soak up the atmosphere of the classical concert hall. The programme features an exciting mix of Italian Baroque with Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Argentine passion in the master of tango Astor Piazzolla’s own Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Both the orchestra’s principal violinists, Vesko Eschkenazy and Liviu Prunaru, have been given the wonderful job of conveying, together with their fellow musicians, the shimmering quality of both idioms. Gianni Schicchi
Gianni Schicchi is a comic opera in one act by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Giovacchino Forzano, composed in 1917–18. The libretto is based on an incident mentioned in Dante’s Divine Comedy. The work is the third and final part of Puccini’s Il trittico (The Triptych)—three one-act operas with contrasting themes, originally written to be presented together. Although it continues to be performed with one or both of the other trittico operas, Gianni Schicchi is now more frequently staged either alone or with short operas by other composers. The aria “O mio babbino caro” is one of Puccini’s best known, and one of the most popular arias in opera.
Bombay Bicycle Club at Hurricane Festival
On February 24th 2010 Bombay Bicycle Club won the Best New Band award at the NME Awards up against nominees such as The xx, The Big Pink, La Roux, The Olivers and Mumford & Sons; just before their release of Flaws which debuted No. 8 on the UK Album Charts. In 2011 the band released their third studio album A Different Kind Of Fix which charted No. 6 in the UK. Only one year later Bombay Bicycle Club was among the bands chosen to perform at the BT London Live concert in Hyde Park, which marked the end of the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Up to this date the band has toured worldwide as a headlining act, playing North America, Australia, Europe and the Far East. Their studio album “So Long See You Tomorrow” (2014) topped the UK album charts and the US Top Heatseekers.

Having entered the charts at No. 3 with ‘This Modern Glitch’ (2011) The Wombats subsequently became one of the stand-out names on summer festival circuits with headline sets at Lovebox and Wakestock as well as other major events including Glastonbury, V, Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Rockness. Apocalyptica have played over 1,000 concerts in more than 50 countries, released 7 studio albums and worked with renowned artists like Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Ville Valo (HIM), and Till Lindemann (Rammstein).The university graduate musicians started to blend rock and metal with classical music in the early nineties, celebrating worldwide success and until today. The collaboration with the Finnish “Avanti! Orchestra” is a long-cherished project. The set will solely consist of instrumentally performed Apocalyptica songs, especially arranged for the band and the 25-piece orchestra.

At the end of a long journey from Baroque to Romanticism the FBO and Pablo Heras Casado perform the three great solo concertos by Robert Schumann and his rarely heared “Ouvertüre, Scherzo und Finale” op. 52. Isabelle Faust, Jean-Guihen Queyras and Alexander Melnikov. More than being exceptional soloists, Isabelle Faust, Alexander Melnikov and Jean-Guihen Queyras all three are members of the same trio and this experience will not fail to give their interpretation homogeneity and absolutely unprecedented scale. This is the first time Longwood Gardens has ever permitted a television special to be taped on site and in addition to her on-stage performance, Jackie was performing at various stunning locations throughout the Garden such as the Chimes Tower and the spectacular Main Fountain. Joined by Cheyenne Jackson who both hosted and performed with Jackie. Cheyenne, star of Broadway, Film and Television is perhaps best known for his starring award-winning Broadway performance in Finian’s Rainbow, his recurring role in NBC’s 30 Rock, and his starring role in HBO biopic, ‘Liberace, Behind the Candelabra’.
