Unlimited Miles – Miles Davis at 100

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miles Davis, this dream project brings together an all-star sextet led by pianist and composer John Beasley, who joined Miles Davis’ band in his twenties. Joined by Sean Jones, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner, Ben Williams, Terreon Gully, and Beasley, the ensemble interpret Miles’s music with their signature grooves, bold harmonies, and inspired improvisation blending the modal beauty of “Kind of Blue,” the electric fire of “Bitches Brew,” and the funk of “Amandla”.

The festival’s mission is to honor and celebrate the current and future giants of Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Latin and electronic music. This year’s unique line-up includes Gonzalo Rubalcaba & Aymée Nuviola, Roy Ayers, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chucho Valdés and Mark Guiliana’s Beat Music. One highlight of Bay Front Jazz Festival was Gonzalo Rubalcaba ,— another Cuban pianist —, who left Cuba in the early 1990s and now resides in Coral Gables, near downtown Miami — appeared with singer Aymée Nuviola, with whom he made the Grammy-nominated album Viento y Tiempo – Live at Blue Note Tokyo.

This year’s unique line-up includes Chucho Valdés, Roy Ayers, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Gonzalo Rubalcaba & Aymée Nuviola and Mark Guiliana’s Beat Music. Winner of six Grammy and three Latin Grammy Awards, the Cuban pianist, composer and arranger Chucho Valdés is the most influential figure in modern Afro-Cuban Jazz. In a rich career spanning sixty years, Chucho has pushed boundaries in pursuit of new expressions in Afro-Cuban music. His influence in the genre is immeasurable, his work establishing the standard by which younger generations set out to create their own.

Mark Guiliana is an acclaimed drummer, composer, educator, producer and founder of Beat Music Productions; through which, he will release both My Life Starts Now and Beat Music: The Los Angeles Improvisations as a bandleader later this year.

One of the most visible and winning vibraphonists since the 1960s and part of the Bay Front Festival 2021 is Roy Ayers. Ayers’ 1976 neo-soul album Everybody Loves the Sunshine is one of the most heavily sampled records in hip-hop history.

Dee Dee Bridgewater is a daring performer of great depth whose singing talents have earned her three Grammy Awards as well as a Tony Award. At Bay Front Jazz Festival, she performed together with “The Memphis Soulphony”.

John McLaughlin & The 4th Dimension in Sofia

to be an intense and captivating evening of music with poignant tributes to Pharoah Sanders and Paco de Luci a.

British guitarist and composer John McLaughlin has been an emblematic figure of the world jazz stage since the 1970s, known for his frequent excursions in the fields of rock, Indian

music, and flamenco. He notably played on Miles Davis’s first jazz rock albums, In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew. In the early 70s, he also founded groups such as Mahavishnu Orchestra and Shakti with Indian musicians L. Shankar, Zakir Hussein, and Ragahvan.

Other collaborations include Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Haden, Dave Liebman, Carlos Santana, Chick Corea, and Paco de Lucia, to name just a few.

John Scofield’s Long Days Quartet in Rome

After experimenting with different ensembles, John Scofield has configured a new group for the summer of 2025. Naming it Long Days Quartet in honor of the long daylight hours of July, this group is forming now to debut Scofield’s groovy new compositions and revisit some of his classics with fresh perspectives. Twenty-six years after their first collaboration (Scofield’s “A GoGo” album), keyboardist John Medeski and Scofield continue their fantastic collaboration together. For this concert at Casa del Jazz in Rome inside the SUMMERTIME Festival, they will be joined by the brilliant and versatile bassist Vicente Archer and a new team member, Seattle’s Ted Poor on drums.

Steve Gadd Band at Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival

Regarded as one the most influential drummers in contemporary music, Gadd can play anything, easily bridging different musical styles. His feel, technique, and musicality on such tunes as Paul Simon’s “Fifty Ways”, Steely Dan’s “Aja”, and Chick Corea’s “Nite Sprite”. Today, Gadd is as busy as ever, balancing frequent recording dates with a hectic touring schedule that includes high profile artists such as Eric Clapton, James Taylor, Kate Bush, and Paul Simon. He also has been equally passionate about producing some personal projects on which he also plays drums: The Gaddabouts (w/Edie Brickell, Andy Fairweather Low, & Pino Palladino), Steve Gadd & Friends and Steve Gadd Band.
