The Teatro La Fenice opened in 1792 and is one of the most renowned and most beautiful theaters in the world. “Amid mirrors, flowers and confetti, New Year’s Eve at La Fenice is a ritual” (MusicPaper). The Teatro Fenice’s Concerto di Capodanno – one of the world’s most celebrated New Year’s concerts – welcomes Daniel Harding back to the podium. After the monumental opening with Beethoven’s Fifth, soloists Mariangela Sicilia and Francesco Demuro perform beloved arias by Rossini, Leoncavallo, Puccini, Wolf-Ferrari, Bizet, Gounod and Verdi. Interwoven with the concert are scenes of Aterballetto dancers, choreographed by Marcos Morau, performing in Venice’s most iconic locations. New Year‘s Concert – Teatro la Fenice 2023
The Teatro La Fenice opened in 1792 and is one of the most renowned and most beautiful theaters in the world. Since nearly 20 years it has celebrated the traditional New Year‘s concert every year, which became immediately vast popularity in Italy and abroad making it one of the best-known and desired New Year´s events. The orchestra of Teatro La Fenice, conducted by Daniel Harding, presents a colourful array of arias and orchestral pieces. As soloists soprano Federica Lombardi and tenor Freddie De Tommaso sing famous arias as Casta Diva and Nessun dorma among others from the operas Carmen, La traviata, La bohème, Turandot, William Tell and La clemenza di Tito. On top Jacopo Tissi, now principal of the Dutch National Ballet, is dancing a scene from Tchaikovsky´s ballet The Sleeping Beauty in this thrilling and exhilarating concert.

RCO: Mariss Jansons and Yuja Wang: Rossini, Shostakovich, Prokofieff
The Chinese pianist Yuja Wang made her first appearance with the RCO in September 2010 in a performance of Sergey Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto. Then 2003, Yuja Wang ‘commanded full attention with her cross-border pianism and the magic of her imagination. Wang left the audience dumbfounded, scored a triumph and stole every heart,’ wrote the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad. She now returns with another Russian piano concerto in her fingers. Shostakovich wrote his First Piano Concerto at what was still a carefree time in his life, and this can clearly be heard in the piece. Particularly distinctive are the Haydn and Beethoven quotations. It is no accident that the concerto is preceded on this programme by Rossini’s equally cheerful overture to La gazza ladra (The Thieving Magpie). The overture forms a sharp contrast to Prokofiev’s monumental Symphony No. 5, which he wrote during the Second World War and which, according to the composer, expresses the ‘greatness of the human spirit’. But Prokofiev would hardly be Prokofiev if a touch of irony didn’t follow the heartbreaking Allegro.
New Year’s Eve Concert at Semperoper Dresden

The Festive Advent Concert has become a much loved tradition in Dresden and one of German TV’s biggest classical music success stories.
