C MAJOR ENTERTAINMENT RECEIVES ECHO KLASSIK AWARD FOR MUSIC DVD PRODUCTION OF THE YEAR 22.07.2010
Berlin music label C Major Entertainment`s DVD and Blu-ray production “Das Rheingold” from The Ring Cycle has been awarded with the Echo Klassik prize for best DVD production of the year. Performed by the Catalonian theatre group La Fura dels Baus under the direction of Carlus Padissa from the Palau de les Arts “Reina Sofia” in Valencia, the spectacular stage production of the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana`s musical performance, led by Zubin Mehta, was recorded by the Munich production company UNITEL in collaboration with ZDF/3Sat, ZDF Theatre Channel and CLASSICA. It is sold worldwide by C Major Entertainment via its classical music distribution partner Naxos. The Valencian production of The Ring Cycle has already won the German Record Critics Award and the Diapason d`Or Diamant in France.
C Major Entertainment was founded in 2006 by former Philips Music Director Elmar Kruse as an audio-visual TV marketing company for classical music. Partners include UNITEL CLASSICA, ARTHAUS, ALLEGRO, BFMI and AVO SESSION. In 2009 C Major Entertainment founded a new DVD label with the aim of releasing top class new productions for classical music fans like the prize-winning Ring Cycle as well as legendary archive productions featuring, among others, Herbert von Karajan and Leonard Bernstein. This most prestigious classical music award will be presented to 61 prize-winners from 21 categories on the 17th October in Essen. The ZDF channel will be broadcasting the show from 10.00 pm under the title “Echo der Stars” (Echo of the Stars).
